Overview
Suffolk County is mandated to administer and enforce the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code (Uniform Code). Suffolk County, N.Y. Muni. Code § 344-1 Legislative findings.
The Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO), in the Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, provides inspections and enforcement activities for building codes and fire investigations in accordance with Local Law No. 13-1987. Suffolk County, N.Y. Muni. Code § 344-1D.
